Aberdeen Asthma Charity welcomes new trustee to strengthen its board

Asthma and Allergy Foundation is delighted to announce that leading oil and gas industry figure Denis Pinto has joined their board of trustees.

Denis Pinto has been a keen supporter of the work of Asthma and Allergy Foundation and has played a significant role in helping the charity raise vital funds to provide the much-needed services to people with asthma, their families, and carers.

Denis said: “Seeing the incredible work Asthma and Allergy Foundation has been doing to support people with asthma in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire has been truly inspiring and I want to throw my weight behind the charity so that together we can help more people with asthma live healthier and active lives, prevent asthma attacks and needless deaths”.

He is the managing director of Caledonian Flow Systems and has also held several positions at various exploration and production companies.

He is a trustee of Energy Futures North East, which aims to encourage school pupils and young adults to discover the opportunities within the sector.

Denis was appointed to the Advisory Board of AFBE-UK in March 2019. He is a mentor to World Petroleum Council International Youth Committee members. Few people in the energy industry possess the breadth and depth of business experience and technical know-how that he has. He founded the Energy Institute Young Professional Network in April 2011. Denis has expertise in the areas of organisational development, STEM promotion, event planning and career building.

“Having built robust skills in organisational development with decades of experience in several management positions within the oil and gas industry, I felt the opportunity to join Asthma and Allergy Foundation as a trustee was the best thing to do, so we can help grow the charity and reach many more people with asthma across Scotland”, he added.

Martina Chukwuma-Ezike, chief executive of Asthma and Allergy Foundation said: “We are very pleased to welcome Denis to our Board of Trustees, he brings a wealth of experience and great skills to support the on-going development of Asthma and Allergy Foundation”.

Denis joins the board of trustees at an exciting time of growth for the charity as it opens offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh to continue to provide practical support to people with asthma. Denis joins other trustees to take on the role of leadership, governance, and strategic direction.
