Our Mission
At the Asthma and Allergy Foundation, our mission is to enhance the lives of individuals impacted by asthma and allergies. As Scotland’s only dedicated asthma charity, we offer evidence-based health information, confidential advice, and support to people with asthma, their families, and caregivers throughout Scotland. We are committed to providing education, support, and self-management advice for those living with these often overlooked yet life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.
Our History
Founded in 2009, the Asthma and Allergy Foundation has been at the forefront of research, education, and support for over 15 years. Our journey began with a small group of passionate individuals with lived experience of asthma dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those affected by asthma and allergies.
Since its inception, the Foundation has embarked on innovative projects that have transformed asthma care and increased awareness across Scotland. Initiatives like My Breath Is My Life in Grampian, Edinburgh, Lothians, and the Scottish Borders, along with The Breathing Room Project in Glasgow and Clyde, have changed how those affected by asthma, along with their families and communities manage the condition. Through thousands of workshops, we have empowered adults and children to confidently manage asthma and allergies, leading to improved life chances and better educational and career outcomes.

Remembering Your Legacy
As we look to the future, we honour those who have made significant contribution to our work.
WS Sutherland Trust legacy funding of £269,138 at the start of COVID-19 Pandemic kept Asthma and Allergy Foundation doors open and through this timely donation, thousands of lives were saved and families supported. 5 years on from this remarkable donation, the charity is entirely grateful to WS Sutherland Trust as without this timely gift thousands of children and adults living with asthma would have been deprived of the help they desperately need.
