In recognition of all their support of AAF activities in the community, trustees of the Foundation have appointed Barry Duncan as their Ambassador. Barry has been hugely supportive of the work of the organisation and has facilitated great support towards the work of the organisation, including sponsorship towards the delivery of essential asthma and allergy workshops to improve health and education outcomes for school children with asthma in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. His company CNR International has extended great support towards the work of the Foundation including an enjoyable Lunch and Learn event held at St Magnus House to raise awareness of the organisation’s work and provide vital information to employees, including those with asthma. Notably, CNR International stands out as the first Oil & Gas company in the UK to enrol their First Aiders in the organisation’s Asthma Awareness E-Learning training.

Barry’s dedication stems not only from his passionate support but also from his deep empathy for those living with asthma, based on his own lived experience of the condition. His passion for our work resonates, particularly in his understanding of how asthma profoundly impacts individuals, especially children, whose health, education, and future career outcomes could be significantly impacted by the condition. In his new role as AAF Ambassador, Barry will continue to be a beacon of advocacy, championing greater awareness, support, and education for asthma sufferers. His appointment reaffirms the charity’s commitment to empowering individuals affected by asthma and driving positive change in the community.

Speaking of his appointment, Barry said, “I am deeply honoured for the opportunity to support the Asthma and Allergy Foundation as an Ambassador, Asthma awareness is a cause close to my heart, and I am committed to leveraging this role to raise awareness, offer support, and inspire hope for those living with asthma.”

Barry recently joined staff of Asthma and Allergy Foundation, including their Medical Students on placement to deliver an asthma workshop to provide support to adults with asthma, particularly our Aberdeen Refugees.

Martina Chukwuma-Ezike, Chief Executive of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation, expressed her enthusiasm for Barry’s appointment, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Barry Duncan as an Ambassador for the Foundation, his passion and dedication to supporting asthma sufferers make him an invaluable asset to the organisation, and I very much look forward to working with him to drive positive change and improve the lives of adults and children living with asthma. Barry’s appointment marks a new chapter of collective efforts to rewrite the asthma narrative from a hindrance to a manageable condition with enough support and awareness where sufferers can thrive despite their condition.
