Background:

A local school sought our help to support a pupil with a severe nut allergy.

Implementations:

Training: I conducted a workshop for staff on nut allergies, including emergency response procedures and AAI demonstrations.

Policy Development: We reviewed the allergy management policy with guidelines for safe snacks and lunch hall protocols.

Parent Communication: I facilitated a meeting between the child’s parents and school staff to ensure everyone was informed and aligned.

Classroom Adjustments: The school is a nut free zone; however, I did provide resources for safe snacks during events.

Impact:

These efforts resulted in a safer environment for the pupil, increased confidence among teachers, and a sense of security for the pupil. The collaborative approach fostered awareness and inclusivity throughout the school community.
