We're Hiring: Health Promotion Manager

Health Promotion Manager – Aberdeen – up to 27,000.00 – £29,500.00 per annum dependent on experience, Full time – Fixed Term Contract until 2026. Benefits include flexible working, 28 days annual leave, and company pension contributions.

Are you an enthusiastic and proactive individual who enjoys delivering training, workshops, and presentations, including building community relationships? Are you looking for an opportunity to work with a charity on projects that will benefit adults, children and young people with asthma, their families, and carers? If the answer is yes, then this role is for you. This is an exciting new role and the successful postholder will be working alongside the Chief Executive in ensuring that the charity meets its objectives in a timely fashion.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

·Participate in and help to initiate a range of health promotion activities to benefit adults, children and young people in primary and secondary schools, community, and workplace settings.

·Travel within Aberdeen and its Environs to provide health promotion programmes using a community development approach with a specific focus on self-management.

·To deliver asthma workshops to adults, children & young people with asthma and their parents/carers.

·Promote, liaise, book workshops, train teachers and network with schools, communities, and workplaces to deliver health promotion services and keep management informed of funding opportunities.

·To represent our client and participate in health promotion activities including campaigns and media interviews, preparing content for press releases and social media as required.

·To participate in the ongoing development and implementation of a health promotion strategy for our client.

·To actively keep abreast of and develop new methods of delivering health promotion messages, developing, and updating health promotion materials as required.

·To contact, organise and train organisations and businesses on asthma awareness and management, deliver workshops for over 50’s in Sheltered Housing where necessary.

·To attend networking meetings and events to help raise the profile of our client, seek sponsorships/donations, and follow on with referrals where necessary.

·Volunteers’ recruitment and support (ACVO TSI, Volunteer Scotland, JCP, University of Aberdeen/Robert Gordon) and line manager responsibilities.

·Work with a team of volunteers to ensure our clients leaflets and brochures are displayed in all pharmacies, GP surgeries, hospitals, hotels, community centres, churches, nurseries, companies & local businesses reception, major supermarkets & shops, car dealerships and garages.

·To seek opportunities to work with GP Surgeries and asthma nurses so they could do word of mouth referrals for patients with Asthma to attend our client’s asthma workshops.

·To provide quarterly report of all Health Promotion services provided and update relevant data.

·To be the first point of contact for all asthma and allergy related enquiries in the Northeast region, and answer queries where necessary.

·To answer all health-related queries on Asthma and Allergy Foundation social media platforms and delegate to clinical advisors, junior staff/volunteers where relevant.

·To liaise with the NHS, building on relevant networks to develop a support programme for children/young people receiving treatment in hospital for asthma, ensuring they are supported to live well with their asthma.

·Develop partnerships with health chiefs, politicians, policy makers, communities and organisations who can affect or influence public health, and to enable these partnerships to be better able to promote healthcare needs for people with asthma.

·To represent our client on external working groups and to contribute to the development and delivery in other service areas as and when required.

·To attend organisation training courses as required by the organisation to ensure level of competency is maintained.

Experience, skills, and knowledge required for the role.

·Background in medicine, nursing, qualification in health and social care or similar desirable

·3 years recent relevant experience in a training role, running and monitoring health related projects, public health, or community initiatives.

·Experience working in primary care and/or the community setting, particularly with disadvantaged groups. Experience of asthma is desirable.

·Understanding and knowledge of health promotion values & competencies and health behaviour change is essential.

·Ability to think and act strategically

·Strong networking and relationship-building capabilities

·Experience leading and managing a diverse team.

·Excellent interpersonal & communication, group facilitation and presentation skills

·Strong project management skills. Must be able to prioritise workload, plan, and work to multiple deadlines in a demanding environment

·Strong MS Office skills essential. CRM database experience an advantage.

·Evidence of continuous professional development

·Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously.

·Willingness to travel
